Argentina's state-run oil company, YPF, reported it has formed a partnership with local oil companies Vista Energy, Pampa Energy, and Pan American Sur to run a project, called VMOS, to transport oil from the massive shale formation, Vaca Muerta, in the south of the country.
The project includes the construction of a pipeline with 473 km in length, requiring an estimated 200,000 mt of steel plates for its construction.
With total investments of $3.0 billion, to be supplied by the partners and other local and foreign investors, VMOS is scheduled to start operations on July 2027, with a transportation capacity of 550,000 barrels per day (bpd), with the potential to increase to 700,000 bpd.
