Bayi Steel commissions phase two of welded pipe project

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region-based Chinese steelmaker Bayi Iron and Steel Co. (Bayi Steel), a subsidiary of major Chinese steel group Baosteel, has announced that it has commissioned phase two of its longitudinal welded pipe project. As a result, Bayi Steel's overall annual longitudinal welded steel pipe output capacity has reached 1 million mt.
 
The steel pipe output of the Xinjiang region is expected to increase in the coming years in line with the commissioning of several new projects. These projects include Wuxi Seamless Oil Pipe Co.'s 1 million mt capacity alloy steel technological innovation project in Kuitun, Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes' 3 million mt capacity semi-finished steel project in Altay which will include an annual output capacity of 1.5 million mt of steel pipes in its second phase, and Baoji Pipe's pipe processing project in Karamay with a planned annual output capacity of 120,000 mt, its 1 million mt capacity welded pipe project in Kuitun and its 200,000 mt capacity welded pipe project in Kuqa.
