The industrial production in Brazil declined by 0.6 percent from October to November 2024, the second consecutive month of decline, when the industry accumulated a loss of 0.8 percent.
On an annual basis, however, the industrial production in Brazil increased by 1.7 percent from November 2023, while considering the first eleven months of 2024, there was a 3.0 increase from 2023 to 2024.
Among the 25 industrial categories evaluated by the geographic and statistics institute, IBGE, 19 have shown a reduction of production in November.
The auto industry (-11.4 percent) and the oil industry (-3.5 percent) were the main negative categories in November, while food (-1.2 percent) and chemical products (-2.1 percent) have also played a negative role.
On the positive side, capital goods (1.2 percent), intermediate goods (0.3 percent), and durable goods (0.2 percent) were the main important categories.
Preliminary indications point to the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increasing by 3.6 percent from 2023 to 2024.
