Brazilian pig iron exports decline in June

The Brazilian exports of pig iron have reached 210,300 mt in June, against 325,100 mt in May, according to customs.

The destinations in June were the US (181,600 mt at $431/mt), the Netherlands (27,000 mt at $480/mt), Asia (1,300 mt at $516/mt), Argentina (300 mt at $836/mt) and Australia (100 mt at $532/mt), all FOB conditions.

The shipments were from independent producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo (152,300 mt at $439/mt), from the northern state of Para (51,000 mt at $437/mt) and from the central-western state of Mato Grosso do Sul, (7,000 mt at $431/mt).

Such prices were probably negotiated in April, with indications of the BPI grade price in the $430-480/mt range, and the foundry grade product above $500/mt, FOB conditions.
