In the face of US president-elect Donald Trump’s repetition of his plans to impose 25 percent tariffs on all products from Canada, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau plans to release a proposed list of ex-US products, earlier than planned, that will be subject to retaliatory tariffs in case Trump implements his tariff plans, according to media reports.
The list in question, which is expected to be prepared through consultations with Canadian businesses, will be intended to create awareness for US businesses regarding the extra costs if a US-Canada trade war begins.
Incoming US president Donald Trump has stated that the US will impose 25 percent tariffs on all products from Canada as of January 20, 2025, when he takes office, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
