China’s coking coal imports increase by 26.99 percent in H1

In the January-June period of the current year, China’s coking coal imports amounted to 57.3868 million mt, up 26.99 percent year on year.

In the given period, Russia and Mongolia were the two largest sources of coking coal imports, together supplying 44.6706 million mt, accounting for 77.84 percent of the total volume of imports. The US and Canada were the other sources of imports, accounting for 7.76 percent, and 5.95 percent shares, respectively. In particular, coking coal imports from Indonesia declined sharply by 28.35 percent and accounted for just 2.09 percent of the total volume of imports.  

In June alone, China imported 9.8673 million mt of coking coal, up 1.95 percent month on month, while rising by 44.13 percent year on year.
