In 2024, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production amounted to 213.542 million mt, increasing by 3.8 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
In the same period, China’s cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 47.407 million mt, up 3.8 percent year on year.
In December alone, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production and cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 17.902 million mt and 4.431 million mt, up 14.2 percent and down 0.1 percent year on year, while up 2.24 percent and 6.03 percent month on month, respectively.
In December, HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market moved up first while edging down later. The highest price level for HRC in December was seen at RMB 3,645/mt ($508/mt) on December 10, and the lowest level during the month was observed on December 30 at RMB 3,535/mt ($493/mt).
