China’s iron ore output up 1.2 percent in 2024

In 2024, China’s iron ore production amounted to 1041.935 million mt, increasing by 1.2 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).      

In December alone, China’s iron ore production totaled 84.856 million mt, decreasing by 5.8 percent year on year, while up 4.6 percent month on month.   

Import iron ore prices moved an overall downtrend in December. The highest level of $107/mt during the month was seen on December 12, while the lowest level of $100/mt was observed on December 27-29.
