On Monday, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal announced its preliminary injury determination on the anti-dumping case of certain carbon steel welded pipe, including water well casing, piling pipe, sprinkler pipe and fencing pipe. The case excludes oil and gas pipe made to API specifications. The CITT determined that standard pipe from Chinese Taipei, India, Oman, Korea, Thailand, Turkey and the UAE and the subsidizing of the above-mentioned pipe form India, Oman and the UAE have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury to the Canadian domestic market.

This preliminary injury inquiry follows the notification, on May 14, 2012, by the President of the Canada Border Services Agency, that investigations had been initiated into the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of the subject goods.

The dumping margins are as follows:

  • Chinese Taipei--29 percent
  • India--69 percent
  • Oman--50 percent
  • Korea--29 percent
  • Thailand--33 percent
  • Turkey--24 percent
  • UAE--42 percent
