CPCA: China’s passenger vehicle retail sales up 32% in Dec 1-8

Passenger vehicle retail sales in China amounted to 502,000 units in the December 1-8 period this year, up 32.0 percent year on year, while increasing by 11.0 percent month on month, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

In the current year up to December 8, passenger vehicle retail sales in China amounted to 20.76 million units, up 5.0 percent year on year.

In the December 1-8 period, new energy passenger vehicle retail sales totaled 255,000 units, up 72.0 percent year on year, while increasing by 3.0 percent month on month.

In the current year up to December 8, new energy passenger vehicle retail sales in China amounted to 9.851 million units, up 42.0 percent year on year.

Up to the end of 2024, passenger vehicle retail sales are expected to boom amid the stimulus effects of subsidies for trade-ins.
