Wednesday, 20 November 2019 22:14:52 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

A railway owned by MRS was blocked this week by demonstrators, following the Mariana and Brumadinho disasters, a media report by Reuters said.

Vale and local steelmakers, including integrated steel producer Gerdau and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN), own part of MRS, which operates the iron ore railway used to transport iron ore.

The railway was blocked near the city of Mário Campos by protestors from the Atingidos por Barragens (MAB) group, a group of people affected by iron ore dam waste bursts like Mariana and Brumadinho.

Until Tuesday afternoon, protestors were still blocking the railway, the media report said. Demonstrators demand Vale top executives to join meetings aimed to aiding the people affected by the Brumadinho disaster.
