The European Federation of Associations of Steel, Tube and Metal Merchants has welcomed to its board two new members from the Italian association of steel traders and distributors. Thanks to the election of Paolo Sangoi, president of Assofermet Acciai, and Tommaso Sandrini, coordinator of the flat steel section of the association, Assofermet will be able to “represent the industry’s interests in Europe even more effectively”, Eurometal reports.

The new board includes president Alexander Julius (Macrometal) and vice-presidents Robert Kay (Ferona), Roberto Gonzalez (UAHE), Thomas Niederhofer (Knauf Interfer), and Fernando Espada (former president). Among the other members of the board are Paolo Sangoi and Tommaso Sandrini (Assofermet), Cédric Bouzar (Arcelormittal DS), Julian Verden (Stemcor), Laurent Noirclerc (FFDM), Lorenzo Biagi (Marcegaglia), Norbert Thumfart (ARGE), Piotr Sikorski (PUDS), Philippe Jaud (Tata Steel Europe), and Tayfun İşeri (YISAD).

Earlier last week, SteelOrbis hosted Mr. Sangoi at its 19th “New Horizons in Steel Markets” annual conference, during which he talked about the threats which CBAM and safeguard measures posed to the European steel industry.
