Evraz’s crude steel output up two percent in Q4 from Q3 level

Thursday, 21 January 2016 12:28:33 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul
Russian mining and steelmaking company Evraz Group has announced its production results for the fourth quarter last year, stating that its crude steel production increased by two percent to 3.6 million mt compared to the third quarter following completion of maintenance works at the EVRAZ Pueblo (USA) and DMZ (Ukraine) steel mills. In the fourth quarter of 2015, the company's pig iron production increased by 0.5 percent to 2.99 million mt, its finished steel production decreased by 15.3 percent to 1.81 million mt and coke production declined by 5.2 percent to 192,000 mt, all quarter on quarter.

In the given quarter, the share of semi-finished steel products in consolidated sales volumes increased to 45 percent compared to the previous quarter, due to seasonal slowdown in demand for finished construction and railway products in Russia.

According to the company's statement, in the fourth quarter last year, production of railway products rose 11 percent as a result of a return to a normalized output level at the EVRAZ Pueblo rail mill following maintenance works. In addition, production of tubular products increased by three percent thanks to higher production at the Portland large diameter pipe mill in the US.
