FAI in water transportation projects in China up 7.2 percent in Jan-May

Investment in construction projects for fixed assets for water transportation in China amounted to RMB 78.6 billion ($11 billion) in the January-May period this year, up 7.2 percent year on year, as stated by Fu Xuyin, vice minister at China’s Ministry of Transportation, in a press release on June 26.

The construction of a number of major water transportation projects has been progressing steadily, including the Pinglu canal, with an investment of RMB 33.5 billion ($4.7 billion), the Xiaoyangshan north operation area container terminal project, with an investment of RMB 4.5 billion ($0.63 billion) since the beginning of last year, and the project to improve the six-meter deep waterway in the section between Wuhan and Anqing along the Yangtze River mainline, with an investment of RMB 3.744 billion ($0.53 billion).
