German crude steel output increases by 3.7 percent in January-May

In May this year, Germany’s crude steel output decreased by 1.9 percent year on year to 3.19 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-May period this year, crude steel production in Germany went up by 3.7 percent year on year to 16.17 million mt.

Germany’s pig iron output amounted to 2.03 million mt in May this year, down 1.3 percent, while in the January-May period it increased by 2.4 percent to 10.43 million mt, both year on year.

The country’s hot rolled steel output decreased by 3.4 percent to 2.65 million mt in May while going up by 2.3 percent to 13.95 million mt in the first five months this year, both compared to the same periods of the previous year.
