German crude steel output increases by 4.5 percent in H1

In June this year, Germany’s crude steel output increased by 8.9 percent year on year to 3.18 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-June period this year, crude steel production in Germany went up by 4.5 percent year on year to 19.36 million mt, showing a slight recovery after falling to a historically low level last year.

Germany’s pig iron output amounted to two million mt in June this year, up 4.4 percent, while in the January-June period it increased by 2.7 percent to 12.44 million mt, both year on year.

The country’s hot rolled steel output increased by 6.7 percent to 2.77 million mt in June, while rising by three percent to 16.72 million mt in the first six months this year, both compared to the same periods of the previous year.
