Spain-based automotive component producer Gestamp Automoción has announced its collaboration with Italian steel producer Acciaieria Arvedi to create a sustainable supply chain for the automotive industry.

As part of the partnership, Gestamp will procure Arvedi’s low-carbon ARVZERO™ steel, which is made of high-quality scrap, to produce auto components. Then, these components will be supplied to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contributing to the goal of achieving net zero emissions in auto manufacturing in the long term.

Also, Gestamp will return scrap generated from stamping parts to the Italian steelmaker. Therefore, Arvedi will be able to process the high-quality scrap and reintroduce it into the production cycle, laying the groundwork for a circular economy.
