Indian auto retail sales up just 0.73 percent in June

Indian automobile retail sales as denoted by new registrations, across all categories, have been estimated at 1,895,552 units in June this year, recording a marginal growth of 0.73 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (FADA) on Friday, July 5.

The data showed that passenger car retail sales declined by 6.77 percent to 281,566 units, with inventories at dealers touching an all-time high of 62-67 days.

The commercial vehicle category witnessed a decline of 4.74 percent year on year, while the two-wheeler segment showed a sales decline of 4.66 percent, FADA said in its statement.
