India’s Tega inks turnkey contract with NMDC Limited for iron ore project

Indian engineering firm Tega Mcnally Minerals Limited, a subsidiary of Tega Industries Limited, has entered into a contract with state-run NMDC Limited for a $105 million turnkey engineering project, a company statement said on Friday, June 28.

The project entails design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a new 7 million mt per year capacity iron ore screening and beneficiation plant at NMDC Limited’s Donimalai iron ore complex in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

In another related statement, NMDC Limited reiterated its target of achieving 100 million mt per year capacity by 2030, up from 45 million mt at present.

It said that it will be using high-end technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drones to improve production and efficiency, and will be making greater use of slurry pipeline and waterways to reduce logistics costs to improve profitability.
