Japan’s coking coal imports from Indonesia up 59.6% in August

According to statistics released on September 27 by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 6.7 million metric tons in August this year, falling by two percent month on month and up 10.9 percent compared to August 2011.

In the first eight months of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 47.8 million metric tons, increasing by 4.4 percent year on year.

In August this year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 3.15 million metric tons, stable compared to the same month of last year, while Indonesia exported 1.9 million mt of coking coal to Japan in August this year, rising by 59.6 percent year on year.
