In November this year, Japanese ferrous scrap exports amounted to 579,552 mt, up by 16.6 percent compared to 497,190 mt in the same month of the previous year, according to customs statistics. In the January-November period this year, the country exported 5.81 million mt of scrap, down by 8.0 percent year on year.
During the given period, Vietnam was the biggest importer of Japanese scrap, importing 2.26 million mt, up by 55.1 percent year on year. Vietnam was followed by South Korea and Taiwan, importing 1.43 million mt and 587,067 mt of scrap, down 42.2 percent and 34.2 percent, respectively, year on year.
Meanwhile, Japanese scrap exports to Bangladesh amounted to 557,586 mt in the January-November period this year, up from 465,796 mt in the same period of the previous year.
