Malaysia initiates sunset review on CRC from four countries

The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has announced that it has initiated a sunset review regarding the antidumping duty on cold rolled coils of iron or non-alloy steel of width more than 1,300 mm imported from China, South Korea, Japan and Vietnam. The sunset review will be launched upon the application filed by domestic steel producer Mycron Steel CRC Sdn. Bhd. on the grounds that the expiry of antidumping duties would likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic industry.

The final determination will be made within 180 days from the date of initiation.

In 2019, Malaysia imposed antidumping duty rates ranging from 4.76 percent to 26.38 percent for China, 26.39 percent for Japan, 3.84 percent and 10.34 percent for South Korea, and 7.70 percent and 20.13 percent for Vietnam.

The products in question currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7209.15.00 00, 7209.16.90 00, 7209.17.90 00, and 7209.18.99 00.
