Metinvest’s Central GOK starts producing premium iron ore concentrate

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that it has completed the upgrading of the concentrating plant at its iron ore subsidiary Central Mining and Processing Plant (Сentral GOK).

Accordingly, the complex with an annual capacity of 6 million mt is now able to carry out beneficiation of ordinary concentrate in order to produce a  premium class concentrate with 70.5 percent Fe that is required for the production of pellets used in direct reduced iron (DRI) technology. The company’s next goal is to produce pellets suitable for DRI, SteelOrbis understands.
