Mexican GIMSA will invest $40 million in a new metal stamping plant for automobiles

Mexican industrial conglomerate Grupo Industrial Monclova (GIMSA) will invest $40 million for a metal stamping plant for the automotive industry in the northern city of Monclova, in the Mexican state of Coahuila, company president Gerardo Benavides Pape said.

The machinery has already been acquired and construction of the industrial facility will begin next week, said the president of the board of directors of GIMSA, Gerardo Benavides Pape, in an interview with the Mexican newspaper Vanguardia.

The businessman commented that the stamping plant could begin operating at the beginning of January 2025.

GIMSA in its industrial division serves the metalworking, steel, railway, hydrocarbons, Oil & Gas industries, among others with maintenance of machinery for the steel industry, assembly of structural projects, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, manufacturing of marine platforms, among others.

It also has three joint ventures with The Greenbrier Companies, a provider of equipment and services for rail and maritime transportation, located in Oregon, United States.

Greenbrier – GIMSA for the manufacture of hopper cars, tank cars and gondolas; GG Trailers for the manufacture of tank trucks for the Mexican market, and GG Synergy to produce tanks for railways.
