Mexico's HRC consumption up 0.2 percent in October

Mexico's apparent consumption of hot-rolled coils (HRC) rose just 0.2 percent year-over-year in October to 461,000 metric tons (mt). This is the second consecutive annual increase, after four months of contraction, according to Canacero data reviewed by SteelOrbis.

In October, HRC production decreased 0.6 percent to 350,000 mt. This is the sixth decline in the first 10 months of the year.

HRC imports increased 2.5 percent to 122,000 mt, exports decreased 8.3 percent to 11,000 mt.

In the January-October period, consumption increased 0.7 percent to 4.29 million mt. Production increased 2.7 percent to 3.11 million mt.
