Ukraine-based plantmaker NKMZ has announced that it will reconstruct the Russian steel giant Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works’ (MMK) hot rolling mill 2000 with an eight-day shutdown in January 2017. The overhaul will increase the mill’s production capacity by 150,000 mt per year.

MMK’s hot rolling mill 2000 was built in 1994 by NKMZ and during the years 2007 and 2008 the mill was renovated also by NKMZ, increasing its annual production capacity to six million mt. In 2015, MMK produced approximately 5.94 million mt of hot rolled products at its hot rolling mill 2000, achieving an annual production record for the second consecutive year since the mill opened in 1994.
