Russian steelmaker MMK Group has released its operational results for the second quarter and first half of this year.

Accordingly, in the given quarter, the company’s crude steel output totaled 2.65 million mt, increasing by 13.7 percent quarter on quarter due to an increase in the number of orders, while its pig iron production rose by 13.1 percent compared to the previous quarter to 2.65 million mt, with the completion of major repairs at its blast furnace No. 8. In the second quarter, MMK’s steel sales totaled 3.05 million mt, up by 11.6 percent quarter on quarter amid an increase in consumption and completion of major repairs of equipment producing premium products.

Meanwhile, in the first half, the company’s crude steel output came to 6.35 million, falling by 2.6 percent year on year due to a decrease in demand for steel at the beginning of the year amid repairs at its rolling mill, while its pig iron production moved up by 1.7 percent year on year to 5 million amid the shorter duration of major repairs at its blast furnace. In the January-June period of the current year, MMK’s steel sales amounted to 5.78 million mt, compared to 6 million mt in the same period of 2023, mainly due to major repairs of rolling equipment.
