New car registrations in EU increase 0.8 percent in 2024

In December last year, new passenger car registrations in the EU increased by 5.1 percent year on year to 910,505 units, according to the European association of car manufacturers ACEA.

In the given month, two major markets, namely, Spain (+28.8%) and France (+1.5%), posted increases, while in Germany and Italy new car registrations went down by 7.1 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively.

In 2024, new car registrations in the EU rose by 0.8 percent year on year to around 10.6 million units. Spain (+7.1%) showed a positive performance. On the other hand, the French, German and Italian markets saw their results decline (-3.2%, ‑1.0%, and -0.5%, respectively).
