NSSMC’s automotive cold rolled sheet JV officially opens in India

Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has announced the official opening in Jamshedpur, India of its joint venture automotive steel sheet plant with India-based Tata Steel Limited.
 
The automotive cold rolled sheet plant, which began operations in May this year, has an annual production capacity of 600,000 mt. The plant produces high-tensile steel sheet and other high-end cold rolled sheets for automobiles, utilizing Tata Steel's excellent steelmaking infrastructure at its Jamshedpur Works and NSSMC's state-of-the-art equipment and manufacturing technologies.

According to NSSMC's statement, the automobile market in India, with its bright prospects for continued growth, is an important market for the joint venture.
