Japanese miner Sumitomo Corporation has said that protesters and the Potosi regional governor have had talks with reference to the blockade of roads and railway near the Chile-Bolivia border in Bolivia and consequently the blockade has been lifted.
The company announced that operations of subsidiary Minera San Cristobal SA's (MSC) San Cristobal zinc mine are now back to normal, including the procurement of materials after delay in exportation of products.
Protests started on Monday, April 12 in Bolivia affected mining operations at the San Cristobal mine. The crowds were protesting against the Bolivian central government and the Potosi regional government, also targeting MSC, claiming dissatisfaction with the way it uses water.
