Pakistan-based pipe producer International Industries Limited (IIL) has announced that it has opened its new state-of-the-art large diameter (LD) pipe mill, installed at a cost of PKR 700 million ($6.68 million), in Karachi, Pakistan, on January 27.

The large diameter steel pipe manufacturing facility will allow IIL to produce hollow structural steel sections to modernize and reform the construction and engineering industry, and also to cater to the increasing demand for API (American Petroleum Institute) line pipes for the oil and gas industry within the scope of the impending The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Pipeline (TAPI) and the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

With the addition of this plant, IIL has doubled its output capacity to 500,000 mt per year and reaffirms its commitment to provide high quality pipes for the domestic and international markets.
