Poland-based steelmaker Huta Częstochowa, a subsidiary of Poland-based coking coal exporter Węglokoks, plans to resume full production on January 20, following a suspension of almost 15 months, according to local media reports. Steel melting tests took place on Friday, January 10. The full resumption of operations will strengthen the Polish steel market and reduce the country’s import dependency.
The company aims to produce 10,000 mt of steel in January.
In December last year, Huta Częstochowa, which has an annual production capacity of 700,000 mt of crude steel, began its cold ramp-up, the stage before the full resumption of production, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
