Russia's steel pipe production up 10 percent in 2011

According to the preliminary data, in 2011 Russia registered a 9.9 percent increase year on year in its steel pipe output to 10 million mt. Domestic consumption of steel pipes in Russia in 2011 is estimated at the level of 10.8 million mt, up 13.7 percent compared to 2010. In 2011 Russia's steel pipe imports increased by around 20 percent year on year to 1.8 million mt, including more than 650,000 mt of large diameter pipes.

In 2012, steel pipe production in Russian is expected to be at the same level as in 2011, i.e., at around 10 million mt.
