SAIL’s Odisha group of iron ore mines achieves highest-ever output in FY 2023-24

The Odisha Group of Mines (OGoM) operating under the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of Indian state-run steelmaker Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has achieve its highest-ever annual iron ore production of 14.31 million mt in the fiscal year 2023-24, a rise of 2.76 percent over the previous fiscal year, according to a company statement on Thursday, June 27.

The OGoM also achieved highest-ever annual iron ore despatches of 14.15 million mt during the year, a rise of 3.84 percent over the previous fiscal year.

Several individual mines within the group have also set new records like Bolani Ore Mines which reported its best-ever annual iron ore production of 7.20 million mt, surpassing the previous record of 7.11 million mt achieved in 2022-23 while Taldih Iron Mines reached its highest annual production since its inception, with a total of 1.489 million mt, up from 1.34 million mt the previous year.
