South African iron ore and pellet exports up 2 percent in H1 2018

According to customs data, South African iron ore and pellet exports in H1 2018 were 32.35 million mt, up 2 percent compared to 31.72 million mt in H1 2017.

Export destinations were 20.19 million mt to China (62 percent), 2.30 million mt to India (7 percent), 1.97 million mt to Japan (6 percent), 1.92 million mt to South Korea (6 percent), 1.73 million mt to the Netherlands (5 percent), 0.94 million mt to Germany (3 percent), and 0.74 million mt to Italy (2 percent). The remaining 9 percent of the exports included Switzerland, Turkey, and other destinations.
