Spanish crude steel output declines by 14 percent in May

According to the Spanish steelmakers association Unesid, in May this year Spanish crude steel output reached 1.3 million mt, down 14 percent year on year but up 4.83 percent month on month.

In the January-May period, Spain's crude steel output decreased 14 percent compared to the same period 2011 to 6.3 million metric tons.

In its statement, Unesid highlights that in the first three months of the current year the Spanish iron and steel industry recycled 3 million metric tons of ferrous scrap.
