Steel output and sales in Vietnam rise in 2024

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in December last year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.5 million mt, increasing by 1.14 percent month on month and down by 10.8 percent year on year, while the country’s steel product sales in the same month increased by 1.19 percent compared to November and fell by 13.5 percent year on year to 2.32 million mt.

In 2024, finished steel production in Vietnam increased by 6.1 percent year on year to 29.44 million mt, while the country’s steel sales rose by 10.4 percent year on year to 29.09 million mt.

Meanwhile, in December last year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel increased by 6.32 percent compared to the previous month and were up by 32.9 percent year on year to 1.55 million mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 727,000 mt, down by 17.6 percent month on month and decreasing by 32.69 percent year on year.
