Sweden’s SSAB to supply fossil-free steel for automotive components

Thursday, 05 December 2024 15:55:17 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Swedish specialty steel producer SSAB has announced that it has entered into a long-term partnership with European automotive supplier Snop for the future supply of fossil-free steel. Snop will use fossil-free steel in automotive component production, reducing the carbon footprint of its products. The company aims to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.

Last year, Snop signed agreements with Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter Group and Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal for deliveries of carbon-reduced and low carbon steel, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
