Taiwan’s industrial production index in December last year increased by 6.14 percent compared to the previous month and by 19.97 percent year on year, according to the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted industrial production index in the given month rose by 4.84 percent month on month and by 18.34 percent year on year.
In December, industrial output in the country’s basic metal manufacturing sector increased by 3.68 percent and output of metal product manufacturing moved up by 6.74 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in the given month output of the basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 4.24 percent and output of the metal product manufacturing sector went up by 12.40 percent.
Meanwhile, in the given month, production in Taiwan’s machinery and equipment industry was up by 8.23 percent, while output in the automotive industry decreased by 9.05 percent, both year on year.
