Tata Steel’s crude steel output up 13 percent in September quarter

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced that its crude steel output for the second quarter ended September 30 of the financial year 2016-17 amounted to 2.82 million mt, rising by 13 percent year on year. The company's liquid pig iron output in the given period was 3.12 million mt, up 17 percent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
 
During the September quarter this year, Tata Steel's finished steel output increased by 13 percent to 2.72 million mt, while its steel sales volume reached 2.62 million mt, rising 12.5 percent, both compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
 
In the first half of the current financial year, Tata Steel produced 5.34 million mt of crude steel, up 10 percent, while the company’s finished steel output amounted to 5.06 million mt, rising by 9.1 percent, both year on year. During the given period, Tata Steel’s steel sales increased by 6.5 percent to 4.77 million mt compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
