Turkey's chrome ore exports down 44.2 percent in September from August

In September this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 71,666 metric tons, down 54 percent compared to September 2013 and declining by 44.2 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The revenue generated by these exports totaled $16.36 million, down 48.1 percent year on year and decreasing by 45 percent on month-on-month basis.

Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports decreased by 26.5 percent to 1.19 million metric tons, while the value of these exports declined by 16.9 percent to $274.47 million, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's chrome ore exports to China, which is the largest destination for chrome ore exports from Turkey, amounted to 945,799 mt, down 37.1 percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 173,218 mt of chrome ore from Turkey.
