Ukraine’s Metinvest partially halts coal production amid security concerns

Monday, 16 December 2024 12:15:58 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that it has partially suspended its coal production due to the intensified conflict in the Donetsk region.

Accordingly, the company has paused the operations at its coal production site in Pishchane, which accounts for half of Metinvest’s domestic coal production volumes, given the recent increase in shelling and military action. Even though the operations at its other facilities will continue for now, Metinvest will make final decisions regarding them based on how the current situation evolves.

Also, the impact of the suspension of the Pishchane site on the company’s operations is being currently assessed.
