US HRC imports up 33.6 percent in October from September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled sheet totaled 178,817 mt in October this year, up 33.6 percent from September and up 19.2 percent from October 2023. By value, HRC imports totaled $138.5 million in October this year, compared to $92.6 million in September and $117.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HRC from Canada in October with 84,466 mt, compared to 66,549 mt in September and 66,398 mt in October last year. Other top sources of imported HRC in October include South Korea with 25,418 mt, the Netherlands with 22,556 mt, Japan with 23,381 mt, and Germany with 8,100 mt.
