US plates in coil imports down 49.3 percent in November from October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of plates in coil totaled 64,560 mt in November 2024, down 49.3 percent from October and down 42.2 percent from November 2023 levels. By value, plates in coil imports totaled $52.4 million in November 2024, compared to $77.2 million in October and $75.9 million in November 2023.

The US imported the most plates in coil from Canada in November with 43,646 mt, compared to 59,102 mt in October and 52,004 mt in November 2023. Other top sources of imported plates in coil in November include South Korea with 6,185 mt, the Netherlands with 5,516 mt, Finland with 1,988 mt, and Japan with 1,848 mt.
