US rig count and Canadian rig count both decrease this week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on May 9, 2025, the US rotary rig count went down by six to 578.

The number of rigs drilling for gas was unchanged at 101 and the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by six to 477. The overall US rig count is down by 25 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by six to 114 rigs in the week ending May 9. The Canadian rig count decreased by 2 compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
