Worldsteel: Global crude steel output up 18.8 percent in 2010

Total  global crude steel output reached 1.4135 billion mt in 2010, up from 1.2309 billion mt in 2009, with an increase of 18.8 percent on year-on-year basis, according to the ‘World Steel in Figures' report published by World Steel Association (worldsteel) on June 30.

The report which provides essential facts and statistics about the global steel industry, contains comprehensive information on crude steel production, apparent steel use, pig iron production, steel trade, iron ore production and trade, and scrap trade.

Accordingly, the top five steel-producing countries in 2010 with their outputs were as follows:
