Zaporizhstal to modernize blast furnace No. 4 to reduce coke usage

Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has announced that it has stopped operations at its blast furnace No. 4 for reconstruction and modernization in accordance with its program of technological modernization of its main production equipment. The modernization in question will cost about UAH 170 million ($6.85 million). 
 
According to Zaporizhstal’s statement, the main purpose of the repair of blast furnace No. 4 is to ensure efficient and reliable operation of the equipment to reduce coke consumption by 25 kg per metric ton. The blast furnace, which has an annual pig iron capacity of 1.11 million mt, has produced more than 2 million mt of pig iron since its launch after the reconstruction works held in 2014.
