European CRC and coated prices mainly stable in line with slow demand

This week, prices for cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) from European mills have remained relatively stable, though local mills have been failing to attract buyers given the weak demand from end-users. Meanwhile, most import CRC and HDG offers have remained relatively unchanged over the past two weeks, showing a slight downward bias in HDG prices.

In the domestic CRC market in the EU, offers from most producers have settled at €660-680/mt ex-works, both in Italy and northern Europe, versus €660-670/mt ex-works two weeks ago. However, according to sources, while mills have been targeting higher offers for first quarter 2025 deliveries, customers have kept insisting on discounts. Thus, the tradable price level in northern Europe has been estimated at €655-660/mt ex-works, the same as two weeks ago, while tradable prices in southern Europe have settled at €650-660/mt ex-works, up by €5/mt on the higher end of the range.

Meanwhile, import prices for CRC in southern Europe have been voiced at €635-660/mt CFR, against €645-650/mt CFR two weeks ago, mostly for ex-Asia materials. According to sources, a deal for ex-Japan CRC for around 20,000 mt has been signed at $690/mt CFR, or around €655/mt CFR southern Europe, up by €10/mt compared to offers reported two weeks ago. Besides, offers from other Asian suppliers, including those from South Korea, India, and Vietnam, have been reported at €640-660/mt CFR. Offers from Turkey have been voiced at €680/mt CFR, against €670/mt two weeks ago.

In the meantime, local prices for HDG have been estimated at €670-690/mt ex-works from mills in southern and northern Europe, though the tradable prices have been voiced at around €675/mt ex-works in Italy and at €670-680/mt ex-works in the north, mainly the same as two weeks ago.

At the same time, most import offers for HDG have settled at €725-740/mt CFR southern Europe, down by €10/mt on the higher end of the range over the past two weeks. Offers for ex-India Z120 HDG are coming at €725/mt CFR, down by €10/mt, while offers for Z140 HDG have been voiced at €765/mt CFR. Offers from Taiwan have been reported at €740/mt CFR for Z100 HDG, the same as in mid-November, and at €725/mt CFR for HDG from Vietnam.
