Local Turkish flat steel spot prices stable as discounts fail to attract buyers' attention

Since the demand for flat steel in Turkey is still low and there has been some softening of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices, the situation in the local flat steel spot market has remained poor over the last week. As a consequence, the majority of Turkish flat steel spot traders have decided to continue offering the same prices as last week. Though certain traders have agreed to give discounts to potential buyers, most purchasers remain uninterested as market prices are still uncertain and Turkey's liquidity problems persist.

In accordance with this week's workable prices, which are at $600-620/mt ex-warehouse, the bigger traders are reported to be offering at about $615-620/mt ex-warehouse, while medium-sized and smaller traders are offering at roughly $600-610/mt ex-warehouse.

Meanwhile, in the cold rolled sheet segment, most sellers have decided to keep offers stable at $720-750/mt ex-warehouse compared to the previous week. However, a few traders are offering aggressive levels around $715/mt ex-warehouse.
