Plate trading activity in Turkey has been at minimal levels lately and so suppliers have decided to act price-wise according to their sales positions and local market conditions. As a result, European suppliers have largely maintained their offers unchanged due to the summer holiday period, while some Asian sellers have decided to become aggressive.

In particular, St47 plate offers from South Korea have been reported at $650/mt CFR Turkey for October shipment, down $20-30/mt over the past week. Chinese offers, however, have remained at $650/mt CFR for grade A material and at $610-620/mt CFR for commercial grades, both for October shipment.

In the meantime, Romania has decreased its offers by only $10/mt on the lower end over the past week to $760-770/mt CFR. Bulgaria has decided to keep the offer level for October deliveries stable at $780/mt CFR.

The local Turkish mill’s prices for October production plate in Turkey has been more or less stable at $670-690/mt ex-works depending on the quality and the order size. In the retail market, the ex-warehouse price levels for St52 grade plate have remained at $780/mt, SteelOrbis has learned.
